Intro to Meditation for Modern Living
Friday 8 February, 6:30pm - 7:30pm and runs fortnightly for 4 weeks until 22 March 2019$40.00
If you’ve always wondered what all the meditation hype is all about, this is your chance to find out if its for you. In this 4-week course, you’ll learn different meditation techniques to help calm an over-active mind, consciously release stress from the body, become more present to your emotions, and increase compassion for self and others. There has been many scientific studies conducted over the last decade that showed how having a regular meditation practice actually changes brain structure, specifically in the areas related to learning, memory, and emotion regulation.
Some of the physiological, emotional and health-related benefits of meditation include:
- Increased self-awareness
- Better stress-management skills
- Improved emotional well-being
- Better management of symptoms of conditions including anxiety disorders, depression, sleep disorders, pain issues, and high blood pressure
- Improvement in working memory
- Increased energy levels
In each class, meditation concepts will be discussed, a meditation practice will be taught and then a guided meditation to experience it.
Week 1 – The basics of meditation and why its really good for you
Week 2 – The mechanics of stress and how to combat with mindfulness
Week 3 – Mindfulness and the joy of the present moment
Week 4 – Using meditation to cultivate positive emotions
Find out for yourself during the 4 weeks which meditation technique resonates with you and how you can incorporate it into your daily life.
This program starts on Friday 8 February, 6:30pm – 7:30pm and runs fortnightly for 4 weeks until 22 March 2019.
