Playgroups offer opportunities for children from birth until school age to develop and practise new skills, make new friends, gain self-confidence and develop physically, socially, emotionally and intellectually, while with their parents or carers. Parents and carers also have opportunities to build friendships with other families within the community. Community playgroups are run by parents and carers who decide the day, time, venue, equipment and playgroup style. Families are responsible in running the playgroup. Supported playgroups are groups for parents/carers with children 0 - 5 years, and are either run by Council or another community organisation.
