Join MasterChef semi-finalist and toastie master, Tim Bone as he steps you though a live cooking class to make a summery Prawn & Mango salad with a Chilli and Lime dressing that will not disappoint.

You’ll be ready to impress your friends and family with this new recipe straight from Tim’s kitchen to yours!

 

If you wish to cook along with Tim (although this is not essential, spectators are welcome), you will require the following ingredients and equipment:

INGREDIENTS

  • 400g green (raw) peeled prawns
  • 2 mangos
  • 2 avocados
  • 3 limes
  • 4 cloves of garlic
  • 1 bunch of coriander
  • 1/2 red onion
  • 2 long red chillies
  • 100g rocket or mixed salad leaves
  • 1/2 bunch of chives
  • 1 small jar of marinated goats cheese
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • Olive oil
  • Salt and pepper

EQUIPMENT LIST

  • Stove top
  • Large frying pan
  • Large chopping board
  • Large knife
  • Mixing bowls
  • Measuring spoons (1 tbsp)
  • Serving platter
  • Wooden spoon
  • Tongs

MasterChef Australia Semi-Finalist Tim Bone quickly became one of MasterChef’s popular contestants with his flair for food and down-to-earth personality, making it into the top four in Season 11, 2019.

Tim has gone on to set up his own business, Tim’s Toasties, selling gourmet toasted sandwiches with an emphasis on using seasonal, local produce and high quality sourdough bread from local Ballarat bakery, 1816 Bakehouse. Tim is passionate about serving up generous toasties with delicious and inventive flavour combinations, with names inspired by film and music – two of Tim’s other passions in life.

Tim also loves to showcase his cooking talents by sharing his knowledge and performing cooking demonstrations for those who are passionate about food is full of flavour. He is looking forward to hosting a virtual cooking class as a part of this year’s Lifelong Learning Festival.
