Details

Neighbourhood House Week, happening across Australia on 8 -14 May 2021, is a nationwide initiative to celebrate the role of neighbourhood houses and centres in the community. Melton Central Community Centre is turning this year’s theme: ‘Honouring our community heroes during COVID’ into an exciting African drumming class!

Participants in this Djembe drum class will learn African rhythm, play call and response warm up exercises, breaks, and learn the djembe technique. You will learn the story around each rhythm that was traditionally played for heroes and warriors and the dance that accompanies it.

These upbeat, lively classes are great for fitness, coordination, memory, stress relief and encourages community, friendship and laughter.

You do not need coordination or any experience to start drumming, our friendly tutor will have you grooving to the rhythm in no time!
